We Three Kings
Hello everyone, this week has been super weird but also really good.
We ended the last pday by starting exchanges. Elder Arevelo from Italy came and I was leading the area. Unfortunately I didn't know enough Italian to talk with him, but he also speaks Spanish which is pretty cool too i guess. Besides that, the exchange went pretty well. He contacted everyone in the streets and i was able to practice a lot more Spanish.
Pretty usual weekend, with President at church again. My comp was also sick all Saturday morning but just took a 3 hour siesta and it was alright after that.
We started Monday with service starting at 9. It consisted of going to a storage unit, moving all the literal trash to the van, then only throwing 3 things away. After that, we wait 30 minutes for the van to come back from what we thought was their apartment. We get in, drive 10 minutes down the road to another storage unit, and pack all of it back into that one. All while she was asking why we never came to Christmas dinner (she never responded to us).
After that we went with a less active member to this amazing Honduran restaurant. We left with the numbers of the owners and 3 new people to teach, which perfectly git our goal that day.
There is another celebration that takes place called Day of the Kings (or Magi). Its probably bigger than Christmas and its when everyone leaves out their shoes to be filled and eat huge meals. Since no one would be on the streets, President had us stay home and read the whole Book of Mormon in 2 days.
For a spiritual thought:
While reading the Book of Mormon for that long for only 2 days (almost 10 hours of reading each day), my testimony of it was obviously strengthened quite a bit. I marked every passage about peace or comfort, mostly following a prompting and wanting to confidently tell people that it has brought me peace. There were a lot, but there is a simple phrase that is found in every chapter, multiple times.
"It came to pass"
This declaration of truth started with Nephi and every author that followed after him. Reading this book reconfirmed that this Testament of Jesus Christ could not have been written by one man, especially one that was not learned. There are too many cross references, events, and thoughts from different human hearts for that to be possible. It starts with Nephi saying that "the record which (he) makes is true" and ends with Moroni declaring "I am alone" and tells the sad tale of the destruction of his family and people. A real civilization started by a real person, ended by a real wickedness of others. And it all came to pass.
I would love to invite you all, no matter how many times you have, to read the Book of Mormon, all the way through. You will feel of its power, understand its story, and come to know of its truth.
Tomorrow we have zone conference and today we had interviews, which went really well. President told me exactly what I've been needing to hear and gave me a blessing to end it. It was amazing, but we also have to be at zone conference at 8 tomorrow, so win some lose some I guess. That's all for now, tough. Pday is finally Monday again next week, but please reach out between now and then!
Vid con Dios,
- Elder Puzey
We haven't contacted anyone from Venezuela in a while but I would love to right now
Not quite a White Christmas, but probably the closest I'll get
