Auld Lang Syne
Hello everyone, it's been a long week. Why New Year's is a Pday and Christmas wasn't is beyond me, but we're here now. The next few weeks will be thursdays, too so everyone knows.
We left off at ZL exchanges, and to be honest not much happened. We found a few people on the streets, brought a homeless member meat to cook in the church, and called a ton of people. Not quite as fun as ZL monkey, but still good.
The next day was Christmas Eve, where we had a very odd, but fun dinner. From blasting Last Christmas during the toast to random english songs until 11:30, there was always something happening.
Christmas Day was looking good with all 3 meals, until only breakfast got confirmed. It was really good, but not quite the same.
Christmas also brought completely empty streets. Contacting wasn't too fruitful this week, but by miracles alone we found some great people, including a family.
We also did some service this week, for a whole morning. It consisted of taking all of the appliances down 5 flights of tight stairs, trying to figure out how to get a glass table down (that broke anyways), and then everything else, including the mattresses.
We finished of the week with a blitz, one friend at church (which I had to make sure I stayed awake for when President walked in), and a few lessons sprinkled in.
For a spiritual thought:
Today we had a workshop about the Book of Mormon and its power. The more that I think about it, the more I truly believe that that book has power. Almost tangible, real power. We talked about how it is the most important tool in conversion (when used with the Spirit), the keystone of our religion, and what our lives would be like without it. With my still limited spanish, I thought about that for a while and told the person at the station that I would really be lost without it.
Having said all of that, I may be having a bit of a break from reading it, at least in English. That's only because I've decided I will read the entire quad this year. Its a big goal, but with Come follow me being the old testament, a Book of Mormon readathon (where we read the whole thing in 2 days) coming up, and my enjoyment of reading, especially scriptures, I think it will be possible.
That's about it for now. Sorry it was a but longer, but the week was a bit longer, too. It was actually so long that our whole piso was broke and we had to start rationing hand soap, paper towels, and no Brasas (if you know you know)
