Young Dumb and Broke

Miguel's Baptism

Hello everyone, things have slowed down a little bit so this email should be a little more put-together. Either they've slowed down, or im able to keep up with more.
It also feels like less happened because we went to Madrid again this week. My trainers had exchanges and the other elders in piso were going up for a residency appointment, so I went with them. It was raining the whole 2 days and was way colder than it is here on the coast. We stayed with some elders there, making 7 people in one apartment.

We got back Wednesday night and I ruinited with my trainers the next day. Despite missing a couple days, we found over 40 people this week. Its crazy how open some people are, and one even came to church the very next day. We had a couple lessons with a friend getting baptized next week, but when we were teaching him he was asking "why can't we just do it today?" He's really awesome and has cried a couple times when bearing his testimony or hearing ours.

We also had a baptism this sunday. It was right after church and D&C 18:15 was on my mind.

15 And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!

To be completely honest, I wasn't feeling much at first. I never taught him, couldn't understand most of what he says, and was again waiting for a scripture to come true.
Then, near the end of the service during his testimony, he thanked the missionaries for teaching him. He looked at us, at me, and I could see the joy in his soul.

In that moment I felt like I taught him from the beginning, I understood it perfectly, and that scripture came true. I'm not saying it out of pride, but out of awe that I could feel that much joy for someone I dont really know and separated from by language.

Spanish is getting better, though. I understood a lot more of what people said at church and during the service. I have been able to respond more and have slightly more complex conversations. The growth from this week from just the last one has been pretty incredible.

For a spiritual thought:

We were able to give 2 blessings on Sunday to some sisters that were very sick. One was a missionary sharing our ward who was losing her voice completely. The other one was after we gave the sacrament to a sister in her house. I gave the blessing on the water in spanish for the first time, then we gave her a blessing of health. It was also my first time participating in one of those blessings and the spirit was so strong. On the way back home, we were on a call with the earlier sister missionaries and some ward members. The very same sister that couldn't speak a word a few hours before was carrying the conversation and giving tons of insights.

So a pretty simple, but powerful testimony of the power and importance of the priesthood. How amazing it is that the Creater of the whole universe has trusted us with some of His power. Its just a fraction, but it can do so much good in the lives of others and is designed to do so. Then, as I experienced at that baptism, that good can come back to us.

Anyways, another great week in Alicante, even though it's taking a long time to get colder. Love you all, reach out please!

Ve con Dios,
