Let It Be

Hello everyone, this week went by pretty fast and there was a lot that happened, but I kind of want to follow last week's theme.
More things to know about Spain:
- Everyone smokes
- They blast Brittany Spears when school gets out for mediadia (yes, they literally go home for lunch)
- If you were wondering what a European ghost town would look like, walk the streets here from 2-4. Do it on Sunday for even better results

Highlights:
- Jose got baptized this sunday! Every time it was referenced around members, he would always thank them, including in the font
- We got a lot of member meals
- Went on my first real exchanges here with the other elders. I still had one trainer, but we were in the other area
- Went to the fairwell of a member serving in Madrid North
- Our zone found 64 people in one day
- Helped teach English class

Now for the things that need more explaining:
- We went to a new friends house and left after 2 hours. It wasn't a bash, but a very long discussion with an interesting opposing viewpoint. Basically, he believes in a "prophet" from America who "preformed miracles" and "wrote scripture." He gives us these pamphlets written by him and we give him a Book of Mormon in return. He said he doesn't really go to any church, doesn't really believe in authority or the priesthood.

Anyways, we do some research on this "prophet," who has no proof for his miracles except for personal witnesses. He also does not claim those pamphlets as scripture and said prophets can't write new ones. So when we go back to return them and ask how reading our book went we might bring that up.

While contacting one night, I really needed to use the bathroom. One other thing to know about Spain and Europe in general, there are no bathrooms anywhere. So I was dying, but on the way back we decided to stop by a piso of a family that we can never meet with since theyre so busy. Right as we get to the door, they open it. We're like, "are you Luis?" and hes like, "yeah im just headed out." So we were there at the perfect time and were able to talk to this awesome family. After that we got to the church (cut it very close), locked our keyboard in it, got Brawl Stars trading cards (shout-out to Benny), and had the other elders open up the church again for us. Good day.

For a spiritual thought:

When at the semi-bash, the Spirit wasn't really there. There wasn't a lot of contention, but he was doing most of the talking and most of it wasn't true. One of my companions reigned it in and started teaching the Restoration, and the Spirit immediately came back. I could feel myself become lighter, breath easier, and become more comfortable. Then, I shared my testimony of the Book of Mormon, sharing that I dont know the language, far from home, and talking to people I dont know because I know that book is true. It was very powerful, but he tried to contest. He asked what principles are in it that have changed my life and confirm its truth. I was able to understand and simply say "the Gospel of Jesus Christ." My comps took it from there and I could go back to relaxing and almost falling asleep. Sometimes being the greenie has its benefits.

Moral of the story? Don't take having the gift of the Holy Ghost for granted. You dont really realize how it is always with you, until its not. To be honest I knew something was different there, but didn't know what until It came back.

Anyways, got week, finished by a nice trip to Benidorm, the New York of Europe, for pday. Love you all, hope you're well and please reach out!
