Planes Trains and Automobiles

I know this one is very long, but it is so worth it I promise!

Hello everybody, since Elder Elliot has noticed I failed to send out an email yesterday I decided to do it today. Just kidding, the real reason is because we moved pday to Tuesday this week so that we could go to the temple. I did appreciate the shout-out, though.

Anyways, this week started with President interviews, which went very well. We again read Mormon 9, and at first I thought it was the very same verses as the first time. It was actually the next page, verses 18-20. More on that later. We again talked about miracles, and that set the rest of the week up for success. Especially the weekend, which is probably all I'll talk about.

On Friday I woke up at 4 to head to the airport. My appointment to recieve my visa was moved up a few days, so I was on my way to uvu all by myself. I made it all the way to Church Headquarters in Salt Lake, just to be told that old plans were sent out and that we would have to go back to the airport to pick up a few more elders. Then we went to uvu, listened to the spanish consul, got our visas, then had chic-fil-a. We realized the frontrunner wouldn't get us back in time, so an elder called his mtc teacher, who got us to the airport with just enough time to spare. Some short flights and layovers later, I was right back in st louis and it felt like nothing even happened the next morning.

Saturday we met with George again, who continues to be the golden investigator. We taught him about temples since he loves families, so he loved that. He then hit us with the "I've been doing some research and I have a question." We kind of froze for a second, then he asked about tithing. This was it. It was over, it would be his breaking point. We taught him about tithing, hammered in the blessings and why we pay it, worrying that the above statements were true. After all of that, he simply says, "Oh no I know what it is, I was just wondering how to pay it." He is the definition of elect.

George also came to church, along with another friend from a while ago that I havent met before. She was really nice and we had a dinner with her and a member family. She has also just had an adorable baby boy and the lesson went pretty well. We also taught a new foster child of a pretty awesome spanish-speaking family. She is super interested too and could probably be baptized by the end of this transfer.

I know that was a lot of new people I just introduced, but we met with one more today. It was a member referral and meal with the same members as sunday. They're really awesome and we spent 2 hours there talking about the gospel. The members taught a lot more than us, which isn't the best, but we won't have to worry about mark (the friend) not having friends in the church for sure.

We also met with a former pilot who speaks really good spanish, so I was able to practice teach with him and started to talk about planes and careers, but we unfortunately had to go. Hopefully we go back soon.

For a spiritual thought:

I know i put a lot of jumbled and kind of random experiences in this email, but it was to show a very important point. Since president talked more about miracles during interviews, I have seen more and more in these experiences. The way back to the airport after getting my visa. Seeing my mtc comp there, making 4 for 4 times where I have seen someone I recognize when getting to a new place, a miracle i didn't really know I needed. All the referrals, meals, and member visits that gave me good breaks and memories. Small things, but noticeable.

With all of this in mind, my invitation to all of you is to remember that God is a God of miracles. Not just for me. Not just for people that have crazy spiritual experiences. He provides miracles for you. Remember to know the God who you trust.

My mission president said that if there was anything to learn from my time here, it was that. That stood out to me a lot, since when I first met him I said I didn't know why I was here, but knew there was a reason. Eventually I thought that there wasn't any specific reason why I was here, that it was just how things turned out. It was only after I forgot about it, put in all the work I could, and trusted and prayed to God that I both received (1) my visa and (2) the reason for why I was here. To me that is a miracle, almost months in the works. I know and hope you all can recognize that there are miracles just like that in store for you. Plus the many that have already happened.

So a pretty good week, especially near the end. I will have one more pday after this and then I will be in Spain after that.

Ve con Dios,

Elder Puzey

Unexpected reunion and farewell:

On exchanges with Pagedale tonight, or the hood that i spent my first day in. Their apartment is an old school. I've been waiting so long to get back to the best area in my mission
