Hey There Delilah

Hello everybody, this week marks 2 months as a missionary, which is super crazy. It's also already my 3rd week in field. That means a couple things, but the worst one is that we have to give the car back.
This week started out strong with lots of doors open and then shut. Usually in that order and in quick succession. Those days were pretty rough, but as the week progressed it got much better. I've noticed in this mission that there are days that are completely bad or completely amazing. I'm not sure whether it's the work week, luck, or the need for opposition, but there is no in-between. I think a big part of it is that we are again knocking bigger houses. They're great for safety and less crazy people, but are not great for finding. They tend to be rich enough to not see a need for God and are not always very humble. Of course there are many exceptions, but most react the same or just don't even answer the door.

But like I said, rough start but it got much better. This weekend was especially good with lessons. We called Kevin, someone we met over the phone when someone gave us the wrong phone number in a referral. He loved our lesson and watched General Conference, which he said he loved too. The only problem is that he lives in New York, so we'll have to pass him over in a bit. We also taught Eloho from Jamaica I'm pretty sure. My comp found him while storefinding when we were on transfers, so I think I missed our most productive day again. He's chill, but maybe a little too chill. If he does progress it will take a lot of pushing.

As I said a bit before, we went on exchanges again this week, this time with what I think is the richest area in our mission. Luckily, we were able to knock apartments on the outskirts, but they still weren't very fruitful. There was one guy who said he spoke Spanish, so I spoke with him in Spanish to show he couldn't get away that easy. It wasn't very good, but for some reason he kept trying to speak in spanglish which just made the whole conversation more confusing.

Finally, we met with George again between conference sessions on Saturday and he said that he read the chapter we assigned him, noticed a lot about baptism, and said he is trying to get Sundays off for church. We went in already planning to invite him to be baptized, but what I didn't plan for is being the one to say it. I whiffed it pretty bad, but still hit all the points and he said he will commit to preparing for baptism! Unfortunately it's after I leave for Spain, but importantly before he leaves for The Philipines.

Yes you read that last line correctly, my visa has been approved! The travel plans are a little iffy, but next week I take a little day trip to the consulate and then it's off to Spain the week after that. It's still a little far away, but I will gladly serve and enjoy it here while I can.

For a spiritual thought:

General Conference this weekend was amazing and I really enjoyed most of the talks. I especially liked the 2 groups of the Germans and the Hollands. There may be some personal bias in there, but they really were good. I loved Elder Uchdorf's theme of never stop practicing and using our talents to bless others. Unfortunately I missed most of the flight sim story since our mission president showed us a meme on the tv we were watching it on in his house. Wish I was joking about that one. The message was still pretty good and got me thinking a lot about some of my talents and gifts and how I can use those on and after my mission to bless others.

So it was a week full of ups and downs, but it was pretty good overall. I've gotten a lot better at taking rejection, even aggressive rejection, and sometimes just want to laugh at some of the things that happen. I love when you guys reach out so please do that if you have questions or just want to talk🙏

Ve con Dios,

For pictures (I've been told I need to be in more of them):
To get an idea of how rich the other area is, the mall we went to had a Tiffany & Co, Louis Vuitton, and this
Still as hot and a little underwhelming as I remember
