Elder Puzey Arrives in the Missouri St. Louis Mission--Wait! What?
Elder Puzey Arrives in the Spain Madrid South Mission Missouri St. Louis Mission
Due to his visa not coming through before his time in the MTC was over, Elder Puzey was temporarily reassigned to the Missouri St. Louis Mission. This was a bit of a hiccup because starting in May of this year, folks need a Real ID to fly domestically. Since Carson would have a passport to fly internationally to Spain, we didn't bother getting him one since he would have to get a new one once he turns 21 anyway. Well...his passport is in the consulate's office in SLC, so Carson had to fly to St. Louis today without the proper identification.
As I went to bed last night I was unsettled. Would they let him through security? Would they ask him lots of questions? Give him the third degree? Would Carson be nervous? Worried about what would happen? As I said my prayers I called on the angels. Specifically, ancestors to help. I asked Heavenly Father to soften the hearts of the security agents and that Carson would have peace and be comforted through the ordeal, whatever that turned out to be.
He left the MTC at 3:30 this morning, 2:30 am our time. I didn't sleep very well. I knew this would be unfolding in the wee hours of our morning. I checked my phone as it drew close to morning, hoping for some word from Carson. Finally, at 5:30am he messaged that he had had no problems with security. The machine to check ID had stopped working right before Carson stepped up. The agent looked at his license briefly and let him through, no questions asked. First miracle.
A couple hours later, a photo comes through on our Thurgood family group chat. It is the picture below. Carson's uncle Sam was flying to DC today on business. Without realizing he would be in the SLC on a layover at the same time Carson would be flying out, he stopped when he saw a gate headed to St. Louis and found Carson! When I saw that picture come through, tears just started to flow. Second miracle.
First, he gets through security, no questions asked. Then, what is more comforting than seeing a family member and friendly face from home? All my prayers had been answered.
Lastly, Elder Puzey landed safely in St. Louis and was taken to the temple for pictures with the Mission President and his wife, Brother and Sister Beecher. He will spend the night in a hotel tonight and learn who his trainer is and where he will be serving tomorrow!
I am so grateful for answered prayers and the safe arrival of Elder Puzey! We love you Carson!!!
Meanwhile, back at home, Carson's mission plaque was hung up in the display case!
