Time in a Bottle

Hello everyone, this week was not too interesting. It went by really fast, but every day felt so slow and they kind of blended together. The schedule is getting pretty repetitive, too. Wake up (usually late) go to a workshop (worst hour of the day), then just straight classes until it's time for meals and sleep. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy it here, but this p-day couldn't come fast enough. We did spend half of it at the temple, which is good, but it's crazy that we still didn't get a break until lunch.  Spanish classes with the new teachers are going super well! It's the first time teaching for both of them but they are really good at engaging us and explaining things. Our evening teacher just got back from Argentina a couple of months ago and has a crazy stong accent. Lots of more brash words and almost no S's pronounced.  The clocks here are really weird. They move in 5 second intervals, so they look a little broken before blitzing to the next number. E...

Hello everyone, it has been a good second week at the MTC! Saturday started with service at 6:45, which wasn't awesome. What was awesome is that there wasn't much to do when we got there, so we wiped the already stainless tables outside. Sunday was packed like every other day, but most of it was spent in the "go and do experience." It's basically just 3 hours of personal study with some super loose prompts to study about. It was pretty boring, but I did feel the Spirit a lot. Like a lot. My district was all focused (which is rare), and we were in an area that played some of my favorite instrumental hymns. It got to a point where i kind of just had to sit in the feelings and enjoy the moment. On Tuesday we got to listen to Elder Anderson in a devotional, and he talked a lot about how growing your faith in Jesus Christ is the most important thing you can do. He also talked about how you get interruped when you're doing important work and gave an example of mul...

Ain't It Fun

Hello everyone, it is my first p-day at the MTC and it has been a crazy couple of days! I was dropped off on Wednesday after a pretty standard Provo morning (just the way I like it) and was immediately busy. When getting set up, one worker asked me if I had a brother serve in Southern California. I knew immediately that she was talking about my brother who served in Rancho Cucamunca, California a few years ago. She took a picture with me and said that her son served in the same place. It was really nice to have that piece of home to start my stay here.  Speaking of here, the MTC has its ups and downs. First of all, it's way better than home mtc. I enjoyed being home, but the schedule and standards basically made it feel like it was just another apartment. Luckily, that one had my family in it. Now I'm on my own. Except I'm not, because I always have my companion with me. He's good when he gets going and we get along fine. My district is good too, and they kind of see me...

On the afternoon of Thursday, March 6, 2025, Carson received an email indicating that his mission call was ready to be viewed. We were taken off guard because most mission calls were arriving the beginning of the week according to roommates and friends of his. Madi and Bronson made arrangements to head to Provo after the workday and picked Carson up from his dorm room and headed to Jackson's apartment at Glenwood. It was special to have all four siblings together for Carson to open and read his mission call, and was grateful they all made the effort. Doug and I joined by video call from home in Washington and many extended family members joined by zoom. Carson was called to the Spain Madrid South Mission, preparing to teach in the Spanish language! He was to begin home MTC on Monday, August 4, 2025 and report to the Provo MTC on Wednesday, August 13th. We had exactly 5 months to get him home from freshman year at BYU and ready for the next 2 years!  Another special day came, when C...
